Rafa has led tours to 12 countries in the Americas, including the US, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Personal birding experiences include a life list of over 3,000 birds seen throughout 30 countries in the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and Indian Ocean regions.

Rafa moved to New York City after marrying his wife, Jane. They met on a birding trip in Costa Rica over ten years ago. They live in Brooklyn with their 2 wire-haired dachshunds, Oliver and Greta.

 

As a birdwatcher, in addition to the countries visited as a Tour Leader/Naturalist Guide, I have been bird watching in Europe (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden); Africa (Morocco, Namibia, South Africa); Indian Ocean (Madagascar); Caribbean (Anguilla, Antigua, Bahamas, Dominica, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Saint Martin, US Virgin Islands, UK Virgin Islands); South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Guyana, Paraguay); Central America (Nicaragua, Panama); North America (Canada, U.S.A.)
